REJUVENATION AND STRESS: THE GORMESIS PHENOMENON
A. Liashenko

The review is dedicated to the basic principles of gormesis – persistent adaptation to environmental factors after low-dose stimulation of various types of stress. Heat, oxidative, pharmacological, radiation stress, starvation and other impacts all stimulate the host defenses facilitating development of antiapoptotic potential of cellular systems. Molecular basis for the antistress impacts is the increased expression of heat shock proteins, initiation of proteosomic activity and improved performance of proteolytic systems, degradation of proteins with abnormal structure, recovery of antioxidant enzymes activity. The above events reflect the body’s potential to resist disease and premature aging.

PHENOPTYPIC AND FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CELLS USED FOR AUTOTRANSPLANTATION
K. Rubina et al.

Authors suggest, that cells derived from skin biopsy samples and cultivated in vitro are similar to fibroblasts as regards to morphology and antigen expression. Part of the cells have marked contractile phenotype of myofibroblasts. A small portion of cells have the features of progenitors of keratinocytes and hemopoietic cells. The results obtained suggest possible therapeutic and rejuvenating action of skin fibroblasts.
